Fenway Health provides primary medical and mental health care, and supportive services, that is are sensitive to the needs of people who identify on the transgender spectrum.
The Transgender Health Program at Fenway helps to ensure quality and informed care for trans women, trans men, gender-queer, affirmed men and women, and others who have health care needs unique to gender expressions and identities that may vary from societally imposed expectations or norms.
Fenway provides supportive and sensitive care regardless of gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, religion, or socio-economic status.
Goals of the Transgender Health Program:
  • Be a national leader in transgender health care
  • Enable excellent, comprehensive health care for all transgender and gender non-conforming clients 
  • Transform the way transgender people receive care and lead the way in eliminating barriers to achieving maximum health and wellbeing
  • Ensure a safe, comfortable, and respectful clinic for all transgender and gender non-conforming people to receive care
  • Collaborate with other clinics and organizations serving the transgender community
  • Provide high quality trainings and education to mental health and medical professionals
  • Conduct transgender-related research through The Fenway Institute

The Transgender Health Program offers a holistic approach to individual health. Services available include:

  • Letters to support hormone therapy
  • Letters to support surgery
  • Counseling and support for victims of violence and harassment
  • Specialized care for trauma recovery in a safe, respectful environment
  • Legal advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, hate crimes, sexual assault, and police misconduct
  • Documentation of hate crimes
  • Acupuncture
  • Substance abuse counseling
  • Group counseling
  • Anonymous, toll-free information, referrals and support
  • Massage, Chiropractic and Acupuncture
